I don’t know what happened. Â It started out like any other day. Â We got up at the same time, we ate at the same time, and we left at the same time. Â There were no problems. Â It was grocery shopping day. Â I’ve come to like grocery shopping with Ellie now. Â Especially since she’s been riding shot gun in the buggy. Â It’s like our special time. Â She holds the grocery list and pen and I roll her around. Â But I don’t know what happened that day. Â The trip was so off I might as well have gone to Kroger.
MACY’S MONDAYS
I’m always on the look-out for different things to do with Ellie. Especially during the winter. I think both of us get sick of staring at each other waiting for the other one to do something entertaining. I look at Ellie and think, peek-a-boo again? Really? Don’t you have any new tricks? And Ellie’s probably looking at me thinking, “Twinkle Twinkle Litte Star? Again? You still don’t even know the right lyrics. What else you got?” But luckily one of the moms from story time recommended Macy’s Monday at the Henry Ford Museum. Two hours of fun, games, and stories all within the context of giant airplanes, trains, and cars. Sounded like a good time to me.
HERE COMES THE SUN
It’s amazing what the sun and a little warmth can do to someone.  I’ve been so excited for a little warmth and some sun for a long time now.  We’vehad sunny days this winter, but they were on days when the high was 9. But yesterday it was sunny AND warm! Everybody was in a good mood and smiling. Ellie was even so energetic she didn’t want to nap at all. I really wanted to go for a walk, outdoors! But I had to run a few errands so I was postponing a walk until today. It was supposed to be warmer today anyways. It was going to be perfect. Even though I was out and about in the car, it didn’t stop me from enjoying the weather. There I was, cruisin’with my shades on, a cracked window, and bustin’some AC/DC. It made me even more excited for my walk today. CONFESSIONS OF A GROCERY SHOPPER
I’ve been grocery shopping solo for the family for a while now. I go Monday morning after I feed Ellie her breakfast. It took me awhile to get my groove down, but I finally got it all situated. Unless it’s before a predicted snowpocalypse, it’s pretty uneventful. I have my own method to get me through the event, and I’d like to come clean on a few things.
Confession #1:
I hate the thought of other shoppers thinking I’m the stereotypical clueless guy that was sent to the store by his wife. That I’m wandering around the store without a clue of what to buy, or how to select produce. So when I am picking out fresh fruit or vegetables I pretend to know what I’m doing. I pick things up, squeeze them, look underneath them and then put them back. I repeat this two or three times before I make my final selection. What am I looking for? I have no idea. I’m just putting on a show. But I think everybody else is, too. As long as my thumb doesn’t go through anything, it seems alright to me. Continue reading “CONFESSIONS OF A GROCERY SHOPPER”
KISS, A COLD, AND SOME CRACK
Ellie started showing symptoms of a cold on Friday. We weren’t overly concerned because she didn’t have a fever and her spirits were still just as usual. Well, as the weekend progressed, so did her cold making it an interesting Monday. Continue reading “KISS, A COLD, AND SOME CRACK”
