With the rain squashing our plans to frolic outside in the sunshine, a play date was set up to meet some friends over at our local indoor playground, Funtastic. It must be impossible to have a bad time at a place called Funtastic, even on a dreary cold rainy day. Well, it is possible, and I’ll tell you how.
TORTURED ARTIST
I’ve been taking Ellie to a toddler art class pretty regularly now. She didn’t quite get it at first, but it’s been a little while now and she really seems to love it. The arts and crafts, the teacher, the stories, she seems to love it all. And while she embraced everything about the art class, she even welcomed the emotional outlet art can provide. An outlet for all emotions. Even the explosive ones.
“DADDY, ARE YOU HAPPY?”
The day to day routine of staying home can become monotonous at times. Â Okay, more than “at times.” Every single day I can always count on Ellie protesting what to wear, what to eat and what to watch. She’ll say one thing, change her mind five minutes later, and then change back again. It’s amazing that in this chaos a “routine” even exists.
I consider myself to be a really easy-going, laid-back, patient person. But this dreary hectic day-to-day routine is really starting to wear on me, and I think Ellie is starting to notice too.
AFTERNOON CONCERTS
LIFE WITH TWO: THE FIRST DAY BACK
We were very fortunate that Aya and I were both home for the full three months of Aya’s maternity leave. Aya’s mom was also in town for the first month Chloe was born, so we were not short of helping hands. It was great to be able to fully enjoy and take in our new dynamic as a family of four together, but the day Aya was to return to work was fast approaching.
Her first day back to work was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. She had the following week off after that. So between that and the Holiday, her first “real” day back to work wasn’t until the first Monday of December. This was good because it gave us both a taste of what was to come without having to dive in full force. But it also made us a little lazy. Maybe more than a little.
