I recently took a road trip up to East Lansing, MI to get fitted for a tuxedo for a wedding I was in. I went to Michigan State University so I never mind a reason to go up and drive through campus. It really is a beautiful campus. And even though it’s been almost a decade since I graduated, it still feels like it was just last year. Going back to campus feels like going home. And I figured if I timed it right, I could catch a rehearsal and show Ellie the marching band. Yes, I said marching band. I’m a band nerd through and through.  I was in the marching band in high school, and I was in the drumline of the Spartan Marching Band for two years as well. With Ellie loving and reacting to music so much lately, I thought it’d be a great idea for her to see the marching band.
COUPONS 101
I do the grocery shopping for our house. I plan the meals, I check the sales paper, and I make the list. I got this. I even use those eco bags, too. I have a system. It may not be very practical, but it works for me. I usually go Monday mornings and I start in produce. I usually have my list memorized (which is good because I forget it in the car half the time) so I only look at the list when I think I’m done. I get in, I shop quickly, and I get out.
GETTIN’ COMFORTABLE
With the summer story time session over, we found that we had a little extra time on our hands for a few weeks. I wanted to try something new, something different, so we found a little place in Ann Arbor called the Hands On Museum. We coordinated with our friends Kelly and Evelyn and made plans to go. Kelly wanted to go early because it’s about an hour away. “Is it too crazy to leave by 8:15 or 8:30am?” she asked. Yes. Yes it is a little crazy, but we were up for the challenge.
THE GREETER
Other than going to Macy Monday’s, I like to frequent the Henry Ford Museum. Ellie and I were going to meet up with my friend Meggan and her son River. Meggan and I were both majored in Interior Design in college, both worked our first internship at the same place, stayed in contact as we entered the professional world, and now, we are both stay at home moms. I mean parents. Stay at home parents. We were originally going to meet at the zoo, but due to the intense heat outside, we ended up at the museum for more of an educational mallwalking type journey.
SUMMER IS ‘ROLLING’ RIGHT ALONG
It’s funny how all winter I was praying for summer to come so I could be outside. And summer did come and it was awesome. And then it got hot. Really hot. All this intense heat we’ve had lately kind of forced Ellie and me indoors again. We were getting antsy, again. I wasn’t expecting this feeling until maybe January. I know I wasn’t the only one, either.
