HOT WHEELS

I had ordered my new wheels and I couldn’t wait for them to come in. No, I wasn’t getting a new car. Something more practical. Something I’d actually use more than a new car. A new stroller! The current stroller was just a frame that the car seat clips into. It was perfect for us while Ellie was small, and we didn’t want to deal with the big, bulky travel system stroller. But she was getting bigger and we wanted her to start sitting in a forward facing stroller. After researching, we found the one that was going to work for us. The City Mini by Baby Jogger. It had “patented quick-fold technology that allows you to fold your stroller in one simple step.” Also, “eight-inch quick-release EVA wheels with sealed ball bearings.” Not to mention the “swivel front wheel for quick and agile maneuverability.” Jealous? I don’t blame you. I picked the purple color with grey trim because it seemed unique and dynamic. Needless to say, I was excited for it to arrive. And even more excited to take that bad boy out for a spin.

SHIKKAKU! (FAIL!)

With Ellie being a halvsies kid, Aya and I want her to be bilingual and bicultural.  But with Aya gone during the weekdays, I was beginning to worry that maybe she wasn’t getting equal time with the Japanese language.  At the same time I was also looking for something new to do with Ellie.  The repetitive winter routine had gotten, well… repetitive.  I had looked into a baby swim class, but I felt it was too expensive for what it was.  Plus, I don’t like wearing shorts let alone a swimsuit.  So I started researching for a Japanese story time in the area, and I found one! THE BABY FACTOR

You know those “I gave blood today” stickers?  I’ve realized that being out and about with a baby is like walking around with that.  But better.  Everyone is so nice to me.  I feel like I’m in an episode of Leave It to Beaver.  When I’m walking through the neighborhood, people wave at me and give me the right a way to cross the street.  At the store, people open doors for me.  Women, men, even kids!  They smile while they do it too.  Even the grumpy lady at the post office is super nice to me when I’m with Ellie.  I get smiles and looks all the time.  I do realize these looks and smiles are for her, and not me.  I just get the benefit.  Hence, the baby factor. WALKING ON SUNSHINE

I was really disappointed about missing a nice sunshine walk this week.  I knew this warmer weather wasn’t going to last.  The cold was coming back, and it was coming quickly.  It was bright and sunny this morning, but I heard the temperature was falling and the wind was going to pick up.  Figuring this was my only chance for a walk until who knows when, I decided to go for it.  Maybe we’d get stuck in the cold wind, but maybe we’d make it back in time.  It was a risk worth taking. HERE COMES THE SUN

It’s amazing what the sun and a little warmth can do to someone.  I’ve been so excited for a little warmth and some sun for a long time now.  We’vehad sunny days this winter, but they were on days when the high was 9.  But yesterday it was sunny AND warm!  Everybody was in a good mood and smiling.  Ellie was even so energetic she didn’t want to nap at all.  I really wanted to go for a walk, outdoors!  But I had to run a few errands so I was postponing a walk until today.  It was supposed to be warmer today anyways.  It was going to be perfect.  Even though I was out and about in the car, it didn’t stop me from enjoying the weather.  There I was, cruisin’with my shades on, a cracked window, and bustin’some AC/DC.  It made me even more excited for my walk today.
