Aya and I recently went public about us expecting our second child. And by public, of course I mean, Facebook public. The Facebook announcement always makes everything really “official,” right? We did announce the good news to some of our friends and family before that though. And let me tell you, when it comes to hearing pregnancy announcements, men and women react totally different.
THE BUNNEE BUMP: WEEK 19
I had a mommy & me date with your sister one day and had such a great time! Â I thought to myself “Today was an awesome day being a mom.” Â At that exact moment, I felt you flutter inside me. Â It was a special moment that only you and I shared, and I never felt more excited to become your mama. Â You’ve been saying hello to me a lot since then. Â You’ve also been making mama’s hips hurt a lot this week too! Â It’s okay though, I think it’s a sign that you’re making yourself more and more comfortable in mama’s belly. Â Stretch out, and dance away little Bunnee!

THE BUNNEE BUMP: WEEK 18
The dress I wore comfortably two weeks ago is feeling tight now, which is a good sign that you’re thriving and growing.  I find myself touching my belly a lot these days, and I think your sister is starting to notice mama’s growing belly.  She lifted both of our shirts up and started rubbing our bellies together.  I laughed so hard, I’m sure you felt mama jiggle.  When I sit down or lean forward, that’s when I feel your presence the most because I feel like I’m starting to squish you.  When I’m playing with your sister or cuddling with her, I almost feel like you’re there with us too.  My heart feels closest to you and your sister in those moments, and I can’t wait for the three of us girls to have fun together.

DISCONNECTED
With Aya now in her second trimester, the tone of her pregnancy has started to change. She’s no longer nauseous anymore, and the intense cravings have subsided making cooking and meal planning easier. It’s also nice our pregnancy isn’t a secret anymore and I can openly and freely talk (vent) about things. But I’m finding that the pregnancy this time around has been very different than with Ellie and it’s been difficult to connect with it.
THE BUNNEE BUMP: WEEK 17
Mama and papa saw you for the first time at our ultrasound this week! Â It was surreal and emotional to see you, all 5″ of you with two arms, two legs, all your fingers and toes and a beating heart. Â You danced around for us a little bit but for the most part looked really comfortable chilling. Â You are doing such a good job growing inside mama’s belly and we’re already so proud of, and in love with you. Â We also found out that you’re a little girl! Â You and your sister are going to have so much fun growing up together, and having you two are going to make mama a better woman too. Â We asked your sister to give you a nickname, and she squealed “Bunnee!” and kissed mama’s belly. Â She also lifted up her shirt, pointed at her own belly and said “Ellie’s baby!” too. Â She already loves you so much.
