After a few crazy trips to the grocery store, Ellie had been banned from grocery shopping and then from buggies in general. But after a few weeks she was allowed to go during a probationary period. She was gone from the stores for about three weeks. Even our regular cashier noticed. “I haven’t seen you two in awhile.” Yeah, she was banned for awhile. “Banned?” As I’m telling her why she was banned for bad behavior, Ellie was making smiley faces and playing peek-a-boo with her. Making me look like a liar. But I’m here to say, that after three successful trips during her probation, the ban is officially lifted. Grocery shopping is back on Monday mornings and is back in full force.
One major player in the ban being lifted is the triumph of nap time. Having her take successful consistent naps for a few weeks now has changed my life. She’s in a better mood, she’s less unpredictable, she’s less fussy with food, and she doesn’t freak out sitting in a buggy. You wouldn’t believe it. All I do now is put her in the crib and sit in the chair for a few minutes. I walk out while she’s still awake and she doesn’t cry. I hear her play for a little bit and then she drops off to sleep for two hours. TWO HOURS! Sometimes more!
Now that I can count on her taking a nap, I’m overwhelmed with my options. I could sit, sleep, watch TV, write, cook, clean, read, porch sit. The possibilities are endless. Who woulda thought?
Now all I need to do is get her to start calling me “Dada,” instead of Aya.
so funny Matt, at first I thougth the store had banned her!
First of all, those pictures are stinkin’ adorable. Secondly, YAY! I’m so glad she’s napping well and that you’re reaping the rewards of it! 🙂
